Furniture upholstery

Reupholster sofas, chairs and favourite pieces.

We rebuild the padding, comfort and cover of your furniture, from a single armchair to a full sofa suite. Repaired where it’s worth it, fully re-covered where it isn’t.

Services

The right work, not a one-size-fits-all recover.

01

Sofas & suites

Sagging seats and backs re-padded, covers replaced and worn frames repaired, one sofa or a full lounge suite, matched across the set.

02

Armchairs & favourite pieces

Wingbacks, club chairs and other one-off pieces brought back to comfort and shape, keeping the character that made you want to keep them in the first place.

03

Dining chairs & benches

Seat pads and backs re-covered on dining chairs, corner benches and occasional seating, with a consistent finish across a full set.

04

Seams, piping & finishing details

Piping, top-stitching, button tufting and upholstery studs, the details that hold the shape and finish a piece properly rather than just covering it.

Supplying your own fabric? We’re happy to work with fabric you’ve bought yourself, but two things decide whether it goes smoothly: enough of it, and the right weight for the piece. Pattern matching and railroading can add 20–40% to the yardage a plain fabric would need, and fabric bought for curtains or dressmaking often isn’t stable or heavy enough to hold up on a seat. We check both before we cut, and our workmanship warranty covers our work — it doesn’t extend to how a customer-supplied fabric wears.

Choosing a cover

The right cover is practical first, and good-looking second.

Pets, kids, how often the piece actually gets sat on and how easily it needs to clean, all of it changes which material is the right one. We ask before we quote a fabric, not after.

Examples

From tired furniture to a piece worth keeping.

Wingback armchair

New padding and a fresh cover, keeping the shape and character of the original chair.

Rolled-arm sofa

Restored rather than replaced, the frame and construction were worth keeping.

Set of dining chairs

Six chairs re-covered to match, with consistent piping and finishing across the set.

Questions about furniture upholstery

Before you send photos.

Usually, if the frame is solid timber and the joints are sound, that’s the expensive part to replace and it’s rarely the part that’s actually worn out. We check the frame first and tell you honestly if a piece isn’t worth the spend rather than quoting it anyway.

Sometimes. It depends on the fabric, the colour and how visible the damage is, an exact colour match on a faded original is rare, so we check whether a patch will actually look right before recommending one over a full re-cover.

Upholstery fabric, faux leather and genuine leather, in a range of weights and finishes. We help you weigh it up on use, cleaning, feel and budget rather than picking on looks alone.

Yes, see the note above the examples on this page. We’ll check the yardage and weight before we cut, and our workmanship warranty covers our work, not how a customer-supplied fabric wears over time.
